The site and its processes

Springfield School Volunteers needed a more modern, mobile-friendly website that better reflected who they are as an organization. They also needed the website to better streamline the volunteer application and orientation process, and to generally be a better resource for volunteers.

Work Done:        

-New modern, mobile-friendly website uses Tunnel 7's configuration of ExpressionEngine, which is designed to be drop dead simple for clients to use
-Used a new color palette and font set to convey the organization’s forward-looking approach
-Added new imagery to give the organization a more professional and active appearance
-Expanded the volunteer opportunities section which can now be sorted by category, making it easier for volunteers to find opportunities that they're interested in
-Added a new online volunteer training & testing section
-Simplified the volunteer interest form & added the full volunteer application online to save paperwork
-Added a new FAQ section to address common user questions users and this section is now the second most popular on the site
-Created new Events section that integrates with the client's ConstantContact account for event registration
-Added a Bios section to add more of a face to the organization
-Created new "For Parents" and "For Teachers" sections to directly address these user groups, who were not included in previous versions of the website
-Worked with the client's in-house IT team to integrate the new website with their internal database for gathering volunteer applications
-Conducted client trainings on working with ExpressionEngine, as well as best practices for writing great website content 
-Integrated the website with Google Analytics so that the client can track progress towards goals

The Result:

In the first month since the website went live:
-Website visits were up 38%
-Pageviews were up 92%
-Average time spent on site was up 27% 
-Volunteer interest form completions were up 42%
-Overall goal completions had increased by 30%
