SnapDigs

SnapDigs was created to provide owners, agents and apartment seekers a user-friendly website for listing and finding places to rent in New York City. The site features a powerful search function for those looking for a home and a feature-rich control panel for agents and brokers to manage listings, photos and floor plans.

For those looking for apartments, SnapDigs has a very advanced search, allowing for the selection of a price range, various amenities, all New York neighborhoods, square footage and other options. We partnered with Solspace on the development side of SnapDigs, and the search needs of SnapDigs resulted in the creation of their SuperSearch module. The engine searches over 100 custom fields and over 300 categories at once, many with different rules and variables. The search remembers your most recent search, and allows users to save their searches with titles. This means you can save a search such as “1 bedrooms in Brooklyn with a Dishwasher” and later auto-populate the entire search form with your choices through the “my searches” area.

Once you find an apartment you are interested in, you can save it as a favorite using Solspace’s Favorites module, view photos, details and a Google map, and contact the agent using the Freeform module. Agents are sent an email when someone inquires about a listing.

For those listing apartments for rent, there is an extensive Stand Alone Entry Form to submit the apartment details. New users can join quickly and immediately create their first listing. After the initial step of adding listing information, users can add photos using Matrix in a Stand Alone Entry Form, add a floor plan or view a preview of how their listing will looking when published live on the site.

Users with apartments for rent on the site can access a front-end control panel. Here they can see their listings (entries in the apartments weblog submitted by them), separated into live on the site, on hold and rented apartments. This uses ExpressionEngine statuses, and the user can change these statuses (for example, to mark an apartment as “rented” but leave it accessible in their control panel). You can also see the number of views on a listing and edit listing details, photos and floor plans. When listings are ready to publish, there is a custom checkout system.

SnapDigs also uses the User module to manage members, and to assign different member levels to people when they join or list apartments for rent. Owners and agents can use member photos to add a company logo or photo to their listings. Throughout the site, there is additional custom ExpressionEngine development by Eric Miller Design and Solspace that allows for various functions in the listings and member control panel.
