Initiative for a Competitive Inner City
The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City is a nonprofit research and strategy organization and the leading authority on U.S. inner city economies and the businesses that thrive there. Founded in 1994 by Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter, ICIC strengthens inner city economies by providing businesses, governments and investors with the most comprehensive and actionable information in the field about urban market opportunities.
The site features:
> Clean, logical and flexible user interface featuring multiple configurable sidebar elements, each conforming to a defined visual and behavioral spec, deliver “supporting” content to the main page and can be easily administered via the EE admin.
> Dynamic charts and graphs more effectively illustrate findings and invite user interaction with the data. All are optimized for standard browser and iPad display.
> Share and Social media components are aggregated in one main section and integrated on every screen throughout the site, including within the video player. Blogging and a flexible and fully integrated Discussion functionality have been architected to support audience-building efforts.
> User-friendly Search notes where on the page a search terms appears and whether the item is from within the ICIC site or from an external site and simply referenced within the ICIC content.
> Customized admin is integrated along with the usual EE control panel, enabling chart data (via a CSV file), images, copy and event information to be maintained and updated by ICIC staff, with no web development skills necessary.
