hellogeri.com is my freelance photography, illustration, and design portfolio. The site is built with HTML5 and plenty of CSS3 for styling, with appropriate fallbacks for older browsers.

ExpressionEngine was my first experience building a website with a CMS. I knew from the start that I wanted to use EE — rave reviews from many of my design friends made it an easy decision.

There are two channels — portfolio and blog. The portfolio is broken down into four categories — photography, illustration, design, and a hidden “easter egg” section — all using the same custom fields.

Tired of the same old lightbox-style portfolio galleries, I kept the focus on the images while having plenty of customizable fields for project descriptions. Each entry supports up to six portfolio images. There’s required fields of project name, client name, and description, with optional fields for testimonial quotes.

In addition to the main thumbnail image, there’s an optional field for “Latest Work Image” which will display in the header on my homepage.
