This is a website for an Assemblies of God church in Gainesville, FL. A few goals and challenges presented by the pastoral staff were to redesign the site to exemplify the church’s diversity and to create a feel with the design that is in line with the church’s vision and values. The church’s vision includes a strong emphasis on missions, community, and reaching young adults since they are located in a college town where over a thousand UF students attend.

The requirements for the staff administrator include having the ability to create and manage new pages and site navigation, add weekly sermon videos, audio and discussion guides, manage a micro-churches directory for home groups, staff management, edit service times, edit contact & locations, a homepage slideshow that links to events, manage news & events, and the ability edit every pages content and page header. Virtually everything you see on the site is editable.

There are 7 channels. Pages, Micro-churches, News &  Events, Staff, Sermons, Events Slideshow, and Contact & Locations. All of the primary navigation, sub-navigation, and breadcrumbs are handled by Structure using jquery where necessary. Every bit of editable content is accessed through the Structure tab we renamed “Pages” and it was a great module for this project because it greatly reduced learning curve for the staff and gives editing a central location

Matrix is used for the events slideshow and contact-locations as Structure assets. Low reorder is used for the Staff channel which includes multiple categories. Mountee is used for template creation, editing and management. Super Search was used for both the general keywords in the header and the micro-church directory search. All form processing for multiple inquiry and sign up forms are handled by Freeform. Finally we used Wygwam for page editing with the ability to upload PDF files and images for the body content.

Page editing includes giving each page its own specific header (if left blank it defaults to its parent header) , a redirect to another page or external site, and in many instances for a particular page with other repeating content a Matrix field is available.

The church staff has praised EE’s simplicity.
