Exclusive Residential is an estate agents and property services team in Kent and London in the UK. The website lists one trusted company (builder, plumber, solicitor etc.) for each town - the expert is completely vetted and trusted. To be on the website they have to be considered the best of the best in that area. The website provides a one-stop-shop for people needing property help, from selling their house or looking for ‘Joe the Plumber’.

The site design is purposely simple, with easy navigation to any service at the top of each page. Likewise, the architecture behind it is simple with only four channels:- Blog, Property, Links and Person.

The blog channel replaces WordPress as the blogging platform for the website. Property is currently only used for adding featured properties on the homepage, with plans to extend this in future - which is going to be very easy with ExpressionEngine. A Link is a basic entry linking to a partner website, the local economy relies on small businesses like Exclusive Residential to help each other out - so we built it right into the website.

People are the actual listings. Using multiple categories, the client is able to drill down to exactly what areas (in terms of location and trade) the individual is listed under. One listing can be shown across 5 towns with no additional work. We use CE Image to automatically resize the person’s profile image on the fly so that the client does not need to have Photoshop or any additional training.

Although quite a simple and local business website, ExpressionEngine trumped Drupal, Perch and WordPress in capabilities and efficiency. We’d use it again in any future projects along these lines.
