Showcasing ExpressionEngine websites from all over the web
Anton Peck: Illustrator
Anton, you can choose any content management system you wanted… why ExpressionEngine?
ExpressionEngine is, for me, a content management system that I feel a very personal connection with. Because not only does it behave exactly as I need it – the community is always there, ready to help out with any questions that I may have. I’m also happy with how my system is built, how it runs, and how I manage my content. Techniques that would require considerably more effort in other systems (considering my love for unique weblog/channels and custom fields for my artwork entries) are easy to implement in EE. Custom 404 pages, custom contact forms, custom templated and merged RSS feeds, it’s all just in there, running along like a well-oiled machine. All without me having to worry about hacks, or PHP editing.
As far as add-ons? There are many that I used to use, but in this most recent version of my site, I stripped it clean, down to the defaults. This is so that I can focus on building the core of what I want first. Get it running, then possibly enhance it further on with add-ons as I need them. It’s not a very complex site, so it doesn’t really need much at this point.
